Uhrig Designs is a Family affair, consisting of the mother, Suzette Uhrig, and her four talented daughters, Gabrielle, Sarah, Lilith, and Phoenix.
Artist Biographies
Suzette Uhrig has been producing art since painting murals at elementary school, as well as several murals at Baker High School. Rather than graduating early, she took all art classes her Senior year and graduated with a regular Regents as well as an Art Regents. She won an Art Scholarship from the Baldwinsville Art Guild and chose to go to Rochester Institute of Technology for Graphic Design. While she was in the North Syracuse Art Guild, she won “Best in Show” for her “A Woman I Look Up To” pastel as well as other awards in other NSAG shows. She has been doing Graphic Design for her own company, GA Promos, since 1994. She also had her own Art Gallery, in downtown Syracuse, called “Great Artspecations Art Gallery” from 2000 to the end of 2003. Suzette has also juried Art shows during that time for her own Gallery, as well as, what was then known as the Fleet Bank Art Festival, in downtown Syracuse and for Lilac House Art Gallery. She produced a series of paintings after 9/11 called the “Forgiveness Series”. While running her company, Uhrig Designs, producing Fine Art, she is also a special needs Foster Parent. While she enjoys working in many media including Metals, Air Brushing, Pastels, Pen & Ink, mixed Media, and Jewelry, she loves the flexibility of Acrylic Paint and produces very sculptural paintings in predominately white. She is currently working in Glass via Flame Working, Fusing in a Kiln, and sometimes even Glass Blowing. It is her new favorite Medium. She also is a Reiki master and incorporates healing energy into her paintings.
She and her daughters participated in the Natur-Tyme Holiday Gift Show, had a month-long 3-woman show at May Memorial in January of 2015, and had a booth at several Greater Baldwinsville Community Farmers Market Extravaganzas as well as many years in the Golden Harvest Festival at Beaver Lake Nature Center in Baldwinsville New York. Gabrielle Uhrig is a Biology teacher but has been continuing with her passion for photography. Not only has she taken three years of Photography in High School but while she studied Fall 2013 in Florence Italy, she took another traditional photography class. She joined the Wells College Magazine, “The Sycamore”, while a freshman, as a staff photographer and is now the new Chief Design Editor for the Magazine as well as continuing as a staff photographer. While she studied in Florence, she traveled to Italy extensively and took over 2000 pictures both Traditional and Digital. Her photography shows her keen eye for composition, color, and her unique way of viewing the world. Her stunning Black and White photographs range from exciting to haunting. She enjoys photography and will continue showing and selling her work, as well as being a published photographer, so she can continue what she loves doing. She participated in art shows at Baker High School and the Baldwinsville Public Library for her Photography. Gabby wants to make a difference by inspiring kids as a teacher and volunteering her time and efforts for not-for-profits Gabby was also part of the Community Service and Activism committee as well as participating in the Alternative Spring Break Community Service Programs like Habitat for Humanity in Cleveland Ohio in 2013 and Boys and Girls Club After School Program in Washington DC last Spring with her sister Sarah. Most recently she was part of the Natur-Tyme Holiday Gift Show, the May Memorial 3-woman show, and part of the Uhrig Designs booth at the GBCFM Extravaganzas. Sarah Uhrig She has been creating collages since Junior High and also loves ceramics and other media like Jewelry. Sarah’s collages, made from up-cycling old wallpaper sample books, have been shown and sold most recently at the Natur-Tyme Holiday Gift Show, the May Memorial 3-woman show, and part of the Uhrig Designs booth at the GBCFM Extravaganzas and many Golden Harvest Festivals at the Beaver Lake Nature Center in Baldwinsville NY. Her collages are sometimes Whimsical and other times Sophisticated designs and offer color and style schemes that fit all different decors. She was also active with Community Service and is also a member of the Community Service and Activism Committee at the Boys and Girls Club After School Program in Washington DC while at college with her sister Gabby.
